I brought up Battlezone for the PSP a while back, and it quietly faded from my mind. Well now that has all changed! I bring to you the pack shot which ended up in my mail box a little while ago. So, I’m guessing Atari is still releasing this thing…

*update* My engrish is strong it seems - I really need a copy editor. Anyway, I just received word from those crazy cats at Atari — my review copy should be here shortly! Have they done the original game justice? Is Atari planning a 1-for-10 reverse stock split? How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop? Check back and maybe I’ll have some answers.  Maybe.
So, this morning I had an interview for a QA Tester position down at Vicarious Visions, my friendly neighborhood game developer. It went pretty well, I played a canceled and unreleased Gameboy Advance game (they hit me with an NDA right away - so I’ll leave out the details - I’m sure you understand) and according to my interviewer, I discovered a bug no one else had found. Go me!
I have to give a call tomorrow to find out if I’m offered the job. I can’t decide of I’m going to take it - if it is even offered to me. The pay is solow. I am doing work as a “part time” computer consultant right now and well, lets just say I do OK pay-wise and have a lot of free time. Problem is my main customer needs an in office visit once or twice a month - the game test gig might be fun but, it’s a pay cut if I can’t at least keep this one customer.
I guess I’ll have to wait till tomorrow to see what’s up…
*Note: Something seems to be up with my webserver. The fullsize image isn’t showing up. I won’t be able to look into it until later tonight.Fixed It - the original image was saved in CYMK format - which to my knowledge most browsers won’t render. I’ve uploaded the corrected image.*
I just recieved an e-mail with the Euro-pack shot and some screens. Some of the classic Taito titles inculded are: Alphine Ski, Elevator Action, Rainbow Island Extra, Crazy Ballon, Chack n’ Pop, Lunar Rescue, Balloon Bomber, Legend of Kage, The Fairyland Story, Rastan, The New Zealand Story, Raimais, Cameltry, Qix, Kiki Kaikai, and Kuri Kinton. There is still no US release date. But, I’m pretty sure all of these titles are emulated through MAME so I probably won’t be picking it up when it does come out.
Take-Two and Rockstar Games have announced that Rockstar Leeds is bringing The Warriors to the PlayStation Portable - just in time for the holiday season! Sam Houser, Founder and Executive Producer of Rockstar Games explains that the PSP “allows us to deliver the experience in an entirely different way, while staying very faithful to the original source material and maintaining the high standards we set for ourselves as a developer.” Does this mean it’s not a direct port?
Out of this short list I only have three: Jet Grind Radio, Power Stone and Ikaruga. Well, at least now I know where I should be focusing my collecting efforts. Anyway, if your like me - late to the Dreamcast party - this list is for you.
The first game I bought for my PSP was Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee, and out of any game I’ve bought/borrowed/rented, it has spent more time in the UMD slot then any other. Well, a couple of days ago a friend of mine turned up with a copy of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07, and after a bit of haggling he left with out it - giving me a couple of days to check it out. I have never played a golf sports sim and honestly after this I think I know why. It is very unforgiving, I’m having a hell of a time getting used to the controls. Your swing is controlled by the analog nub, pull down for back swing and then push up to swing. The putting system is very odd - showing you the line of the ball before the putt (I think I’m getting used to that though). One interesting aspect of the game so far (I’m only three “days” into it) is EA’s GameFace - it makes it possible to create an in game character with a pretty close resemblence to the player. I’m going to give the game a couple more hours and see how I feel about it then - it has almost caused me to break a knuckle already…
The area I live in has 6 EB/Gamestop’s, I took the time this morning to check out three of those - and from the looks of it the NintendoWii will do OK when it is launched this November. I stopped at the EB in the local mall (mostly so I didn’t have to stand outside) - making a half hearted attempt at securing a preorder. I say half hearted because, well, even though I arrived at the mall very early, I immediately left and went to Dunkin Donuts (I do have priorities). Anyway, once I was armed with my coffee, I returned to the mall and stepped into line - I was number 15. A little while later number 16 shows up. After watching him edge toward the front of the line for a few minutes I realized he was indeed attempting to slide is way up to number 12 (and probably further if he could do it). All the while he’s telling some girl a story about how Best Buy preorders are terrible because people will just cut you in line. Hehe. Needless to say once the store gate opened I (politely) let him know that he might want to step back behind me - which he did.
Anyway, I’m sad to report that this EB only had 11 preorder slots. Two of which were taken by store employees before the store opened - I hate when they do that. I’m not overly concerned bases on the Wii production numbers. I may not get one on launch day but I’ll get one eventually. I called the six stores in my area just to verify that yes they are all out a preorder slots. So, yeah it looks like the Wii will do just fine…
