A little while back I was having a conversation with one of my fellow QAers and naturally the during course of the conversation we started talking about video games. Specifically, we were talking about video game passwords that we remembered (you know ones other then UUDDLRLR…). Near the end of the conversation I mentioned Icarus Fights Medusa Angels a code from one of my all time favorite games Kid Icarus. This was met with a blank stare and much to my horror he said that he had never heard of it.
So, it was great to hear that Kid Icarus was going to be released in the Wii’s Virtual Console! Well, this morning I find out via Go Nintendo that the game is out - and so are the secret passwords! :( How lame is that? Will they remove the Konami code next??? If I could manage to find a Wii I might (but probably not since I can just load the rom and know that my childhood memory is safe) spend five dollars to see if that code still works…
February 2nd, 2007 — Gaming, QA
Well, it’s been a busy week (or two). Monday signaled the end of my testing duties on one project and (thank goodness) I got moved over to another (one that is way more exciting to me). Unfortunately, on Wednesday news had come down from the top (news that wasn’t unexpected) that the QA team is nearing the end of it’s life cycle. But, as I said it was not unexpected - projects at the studio just haven’t lined up well enough to keep QA at their desks. We’ve got a handful of games ending the development cycle at the same time and it will be a little while before testers will be needed again. I’m just hoping I get an invite back when that time comes.
I’ve been trying to put together some thoughts on the whole QA thing well the first project is still fresh in my head - hopefully, that will be up here sometime soon. I’ve also been trying to get some time coding with a devkit before I’m shoved out the door. I need to get more out of this opportunity then my name on a couple of games.Â
That’s all for now…
