August 30th, 2007 — Gaming, Guild Wars
A couple of days ago I beat BioShock (with the “good” ending – don’t worry I’m not going to spoil it) and I suddenly found myself with some extra time on my hands. So, I did something I haven’t done in a while – I logged into Guild Wars. Since buying the game I haven’t really kept up with it. Partly because none of my friends are playing and I end up soloing everything. For the most part I can’t take most of my fellow players – I’m sure you can figure out why – and my play habits are no where near stable enough to bother weeding through the rabble to find a group to play with.
I spent some time finishing up a couple of quests that have sat in my quest log, longer then I can remember and bringing my Necromancer/Warrior up to level 12. Currently, I’m sitting at with about 25% level till I reach 13. Hopefully, I’ll be able to run my way through the Asalon Foothills and make it all the way to Yak’s Bend one of these days. I’ve attempted it a couple of times and so far it’s been no go.
One thing I did notice logging back in for the first time was – I had a birthday present. I vaguely remember getting that once my characters first birthday had passed, for some reason though I never opened it. I’ll be getting my next birthday present in about three months, maybe then I’ll open the first one.
Anyway, I need to get back to working on my “build“.

NCSoft and ArenaNet will be having a preview event for the upcoming Guild Wars: Nightfall! Starting on September 22 at 07:01pm GMT players will have till the 25th at 6:59am GMT to try the game free of charge! Players will be able to create characters Nightfall-specific characters from the six core professions as well as the two new professions, the Dervish and the Paragon, and to try out new Nightfall skills.
Sounds good to me! Now, I just have to make sure I don't miss it like I did the last preview event.

The word is out!

NCSoft Press Release:
The Guild Wars Nightfall PvP Preview event will kick off on Friday, July 28 at 08:00 BST / 09:00 CET and will continue through Monday, July 31 to 07:59 BST / 08:59 CET.
It's nice to see Guild Wars doing so well and that the additional content NCSoft promised is becoming a reality. It makes me feel kind of bad though, since I still haven't picked up a copy of Factions. As with Factions, during the PvP preview players will be able to try out the two new professions: the Dervish, a scythe-wielding holy warrior, and the Paragon, guardian angel of the Elonian people.

I got into a discussion earlier today about how 'Guild War: Factions' is almost upon us. I was saying that I've almost preordered a half dozen or so times over the last couple of weeks – just to get the pre-play weekend and all that. In truth I was going to order the collectors edition but, since Guild Wars hasn't fit very well into my busy life I held off – and after seeing over at brinstar's blog that it has been delayed I'm kind of glad I didn't throw any money down on it. I guess I'll just have to buy a 'regular' copy when it hits the shelves. If there are any left…
