Well, I’m starting to get settled in the new apartment - Comcast was here today and installed my cable and internet. So, things should be getting back to normal. Hopefully, I’ll be able to catch up on the gaming during my commute to work using Portland’s public transportation system. Thats one bus and then the MAX train - which should be perfect getting in some time with my DS. I’ve been bringing it along but haven’t actually played any games since, I’ve been using it as an MP3 player. I’ve got a few games to catch up on, including a fresh copy of Space Invaders Extreme from Play Asia. We’ll see what the coming week brings though.

La Fin Du Monde
May 15th, 2008 — DS, Gaming, PC, Site News
Finally, a free moment - moving across the USA is hard work it seems. That’s right no more New York for me, I’m now in city of Portland in the state of Oregon. It’s been a crazy time with the website going down just moments before I got on the plane. I wasn’t in a position to get it fixed quickly so, down it stayed. Of course, once that was fixed we released there were problems with all of the e-mail accounts… Anyway, it’s all fixed up and hopefully that won’t happen again.
So, what does all this have to do with gaming? Well, I may have been incredibly busy but I have managed to shoe horn in a bit of time playing. I spent almost the entire plane ride playing The World Ends With You. I’m currently on day 5 (out of 7). Of course I haven’t played since I landed at PDX - I’m hoping to get back into it once I move into my place this weekend. The game is strangely good. One of the better RPGs I’ve played recently. I’m (surprise) pressed for time so I won’t go into the entire story - check out Siliconera for that.
Aside from the DS, I’ve been lucky enough to clock some time in Steam playing a couple of games. I even got to sit down and play Team Fortress 2 in the same room with a couple of people I know out here. Working on the new achievements was tons of fun and Gold Rush is pretty fun. Just remember kids drinking and gaming isn’t always a good idea. My other Steam favorite has been Trackmania. If you haven’t checked it out and like arcade style racers then get going… Now, if only I can hold on until my main computer gets here - I’m dieing to play some Company of Heroes.
Downtime
May 3rd, 2008 — Site News
That was the longest downtime the site has ever experienced! Anyway, it’s back up now and should be OK from here on out.

I noticed last night that there was a problem with comment posting (damn this alpha software) - however, there was a fix in the nightly so I’ve updated my release and hopefully it’s fixed. I suppose I’ll know when I comment on this post. ![]()
Now That’s Creepy
September 7th, 2006 — Blog, Site News
And here I thought I had enough to worry about from my own government (with that whole tapping of phones and spying on US citizens thing that had the mindless drones up in arms for about a second until Fox News gave them something else to look at). I was just taking a look through my web stats, as I’m known to do from time to time and I happen to notice that someone was doing a lot of Google searching for my nick - and it was from someone from within the Australian Department of Defense. Weird right?
Anyway, to my new friend with ADD (I’m sure I’m not the first to make that joke) - Welcome! I hope you find that PSP review your looking for! Although, I’m pretty sure I didn’t write it.
And just so you know - yes, I am saddened with the loss of Steve Irwin, he was great at dodging those snakes!
*update* WordPress is acting up again… Damn alpha software. ![]()

I will be unable to post most of the week. However, there are some big things in the works for when I get back!

I just realized that the third of August marked the fourth birthday of shindakun dot net. So. Umm. Happy Birthday - I guess. No prizes or gifts to give out to my faithful handful of readers… sorry, I'm poor - maybe next year. ![]()
Now Playing
April 10th, 2006 — Blog, Code, Site News, WordPress
I am in the process of hacking up the "Now Reading" plugin from Roblog into a "Now Playing" plugin. And for some reason I couldn't get the library links to work. So after a bit of messing around it seems I've figured it out. I realized that the actual links to the library were working just the rewriting rules weren't. That lead me to 'wp-includes/rewrite.php'. Around line 86 you should see 'var $use_verbose_rules = false;' what I did was change 'false' to 'true'. After uploading the change to my server I went to the Wordpress control panel and updated my permalink settings. Then like magic everything works like it should. :D I'm going to mess around with the script some more as time permits who knows maybe I'll release my hack in the near future…

For Those Keeping Track.

My internet connection is on the blink so I won’t be around for a few days. But, it kind of works out since it’s the birthday weekend I’ll be too busy with other things anyway. I might even get in a bit of skiing on Monday. Yay!
Well, till later then.
