Moving Day

I think I am going to move the site over to WordPress 2.0. In fact I think I might make the change tonight. I’m running a full backup on the site right now – just in case. Yesterday, I spent a little while writing a small PHP script which takes posts from the old database and moves them into the WordPress tables in the correct format, so moving the post over is no problem. I started to mod the default theme to be more to my liking but I still have quite a way to go before it’s ‘perfect’. That reminds me I need to mod WordPress to use my smilies.

I also have PixelPost installed and after a couple of false starts (due to conflicting PHP versions and code problems) got it to work ok.

Well, I’m going to eat some dinner. Then I think I’ll start the move…

Hey hey, i don’t know if wordpress will notify ya if a comment is posted on such an old entry…let’s give it a try…

Hmm…how’s things going?? I was rummaging thru ya old post so as to look for the reason on ya switch to wordpress. After all, ya have been using ya own custom cms for quite some time and it looks pretty alright except that there was not much updates to the script itself.(on the surface that we can see, that is.)

Perhaps it is due to the flexibility and the active developments of this cms script? :)

Alright man, let’s see if i get some response. :P

Yeah WordPress is nice enough to let me know you wrote something. :) Since I have it set so I have to approve comments.

About the switch… I enjoyed writing my own CMS software and it worked really well… It never quite got to the level I wanted it due to lack of continuous work. But, I was pretty good for a pet project and learning experience. I switched over to WordPress just after 2.0 was released at first just to check it out but I agree to like it so I decided that I would keep it. Besides if I need it to do something it currently doesn’t I’ll have no problem modding the script since I’ve got a nice handle on PHP/MySQL now.
