On the new release side of things, I’m really looking forward to God of War III. But, it’s not out until March, which should hopefully give me enough time to actually finish off the second game. Anyway, I think I’m going to squeeze in some more play time while I can.

It’s been around for quite a while now, Sony’s PlayStation 2. Yet for some reason I never made room on my shelf for one – until now. Target has decided to celebrate my birthday by lowering the already low price of the PS2 to $99. That’s just the thing I said it would take for me to dive in and finally get the dying system. Now, that I’ve got the PS2 it’s time to start working on a PS2 pile of shame. I found a copy of Shadow of the Colossus on a nearby shelf so, I’ve got a good start I think. Unfortunately, Target was out of memory cards so a quick trip to eBay was in order. Hopefully, the card will be here tomorrow. I did, however, start the game and defeat the first Colossus. It’s a good start of what looks to be a great game. As if I don’t already have enough games that I need to find the time to play here is the start of my pile of shame list:

After some searching around I was able to borrow a copy from a co-worker. Over the week I have been able to squeeze in about 16 hours worth of playing – and so far I’m really digging the game. I’m told the game runs around 40 hours or so total. Hell, maybe when I’m done with this one I’ll tackle Final Fantasy VIII, if I can’t borrow one I’ll probably turn to Ebay. The only real downside of the experience is my video card doesn’t like the shader plug-in, so I can’t use it with top settings.  I guess it’s time to upgrade.  Well, I better get back to the game – I need to see how it ends.

Sony has announced that the PSP 3.0 firmware is ready for those willing (stupid?) to upgrade.  Along with version 3.0 we finally get official word on PS1 emulation!  Remember the PS1 emulator for PSP?  Well, forget about it unless your one of the six or seven people who managed to buy a PS3.  That’s right a PS3 is required to play PS1 games.   How lame.

Thanks Sony – you jerks.

*update* My engrish is strong it seems – I really need a copy editor. Anyway, I just received word from those crazy cats at Atari — my review copy should be here shortly! Have they done the original game justice? Is Atari planning a 1-for-10 reverse stock split? How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop?  Check back and maybe I’ll have some answers.  Maybe.

I just recieved an e-mail with the Euro-pack shot and some screens. Some of the classic Taito titles inculded are: Alphine Ski, Elevator Action, Rainbow Island Extra, Crazy Ballon, Chack n’ Pop, Lunar Rescue, Balloon Bomber, Legend of Kage, The Fairyland Story, Rastan, The New Zealand Story, Raimais, Cameltry, Qix, Kiki Kaikai, and Kuri Kinton. There is still no US release date. But, I’m pretty sure all of these titles are emulated through MAME so I probably won’t be picking it up when it does come out.
