I finally took the leap this week – that’s right, I bought myself a PlayStation 3 and a copy inFAMOUS to go with it. inFAMOUS came out way back in May which carries the nice side benefit of not having to pay the full $60 price tag that new releases carry. I’ve only played a little bit so far but I’m really enjoying it. Hopefully, it will hold my interest long enough for me to finish it. I figure for the time being I’m going to stick to the console exclusives that have been released. So far, my short list includes:

Killzone 2

Resistance: Fall Of Man

Uncharted

On the new release side of things, I’m really looking forward to God of War III. But, it’s not out until March, which should hopefully give me enough time to actually finish off the second game. Anyway, I think I’m going to squeeze in some more play time while I can.

It’s been around for quite a while now, Sony’s PlayStation 2. Yet for some reason I never made room on my shelf for one – until now. Target has decided to celebrate my birthday by lowering the already low price of the PS2 to $99. That’s just the thing I said it would take for me to dive in and finally get the dying system. Now, that I’ve got the PS2 it’s time to start working on a PS2 pile of shame. I found a copy of Shadow of the Colossus on a nearby shelf so, I’ve got a good start I think. Unfortunately, Target was out of memory cards so a quick trip to eBay was in order. Hopefully, the card will be here tomorrow. I did, however, start the game and defeat the first Colossus. It’s a good start of what looks to be a great game. As if I don’t already have enough games that I need to find the time to play here is the start of my pile of shame list:

<strike>Shadow of the Colossus</strike>

Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 FES

God of War

Okami

Devil May Cry

Final Fantasy XII

Ico

Katamari Damacy

Anyone out there have any other suggestions?

*edit* Added Katamari Damacy and updated Persona 3 to the recently announced Persona 3 FES.

Last week at this time Racketboy had a post about using shader plugins for the PS1 emulator ePSXe to improve graphics quality. I’ve know about the plug-ins for a while now but, never had the desire to check them out. Well, after looking at the Final Fantasy IX screen shot I decided to give it a go. I have to admit I never played Final Fantasy IX so, this seemed like a perfect opportunity to finally get that out of the way. Actually, Final Fantasy I, II and VII are the only titles in the series that I’ve played through to completion.

After some searching around I was able to borrow a copy from a co-worker. Over the week I have been able to squeeze in about 16 hours worth of playing – and so far I’m really digging the game. I’m told the game runs around 40 hours or so total. Hell, maybe when I’m done with this one I’ll tackle Final Fantasy VIII, if I can’t borrow one I’ll probably turn to Ebay. The only real downside of the experience is my video card doesn’t like the shader plug-in, so I can’t use it with top settings. I guess it’s time to upgrade. Well, I better get back to the game – I need to see how it ends.

Have they done the original game justice? Is Atari planning a 1-for-10 reverse stock split? How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop? Check back and maybe I’ll have some answers. Maybe.

Take-Two and Rockstar Games have announced that Rockstar Leeds is bringing The Warriors to the PlayStation Portable – just in time for the holiday season! Sam Houser, Founder and Executive Producer of Rockstar Games explains that the PSP “allows us to deliver the experience in an entirely different way, while staying very faithful to the original source material and maintaining the high standards we set for ourselves as a developer.” Does this mean it’s not a direct port?

Can you dig it?
