Final Fantasy Tactics A2 is finally out! Looks like I have something new to play while riding the train to work. I’ll report back in a couple of days and let everyone know how it is.
Other then my time playing Space Invaders Extreme, I haven’t been gaming all that much. While I have played to much I have picked up a couple of games on Steam. With all the news of Beyond Good and Evil 2 from Ubidays I decided I should probably go back and finish the first one. Since, I lost my copy for Xbox long ago Steam was the obvious place to get it. Of course, I haven’t made it past the point Jade recieves the mission to take pictures yet.
I also picked up a copy of Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, Episode One. The longest video game name that I can think of is a pretty decent game. It is a point and click adventure role playing game. Which almost makes me wish there was a version on the DS as well, since I would love to play on the train. I’m actually a bit glad I’m not just playing through in one sitting since, it seems to have fallen into the “kill x number of y” game play mechanic pretty early in the game – Steam reports that I’ve played for about 1.3 hours. I have faith that it will break free of that as the time goes on – I hope.
Other games I’ve played for more then ten minutes include: Metal Gear Soild (ePSXe), Resident Evil 4 (Wii) and Shadow of the Colossus (PS2).

It has finally happened! I have seen a Wii in the store! Well, actually I’ve seen three Wii’s. This morning Kris and I where doing some shopping at the Target in Latham, NY and as we browsed through electronics I saw that the Wii spot was for the first time – not empty (or full with other Nintendo merchandise).

The funniest part of the whole thing is – yes, I left the store without one. After all this time, I don’t want one any longer. I’m just not excited by the system anymore, the novelty of it has worn off I guess…
February 13th, 2007 — Gaming, QA, Virtual Console, Wii
A little while back I was having a conversation with one of my fellow QAers and naturally the during course of the conversation we started talking about video games. Specifically, we were talking about video game passwords that we remembered (you know ones other then UUDDLRLR…). Near the end of the conversation I mentioned Icarus Fights Medusa Angels a code from one of my all time favorite games Kid Icarus. This was met with a blank stare and much to my horror he said that he had never heard of it.
So, it was great to hear that Kid Icarus was going to be released in the Wii’s Virtual Console! Well, this morning I find out via Go Nintendo that the game is out – and so are the secret passwords!ÂÂ
How lame is that? Will they remove the Konami code next??? If I could manage to find a Wii I might (but probably not since I can just load the rom and know that my childhood memory is safe) spend five dollars to see if that code still works…
January 22nd, 2007 — Gaming, Nintendo, Wii
Earlier today a friend IM’d be to tell me the tale of a mutual friend who currently resides in Portland, OR. It seems that this past Sunday she decided it was time to get a Nintendo Wii and was willing to wait in line for it – if that’s what it took. Well, after waiting in line at some big box store (I’m not sure which one) for about three hours her wish was granted! She went home with a brand new Wii!
After carefully unpacking and hooking up the Wii to the TV – it came time to place a CD in drive – and much to her horror (and anyone else nearby I’m guessing) the drive accepted the disc with the most horrible grinding you have ever heard… With the short supply of Wii’s still plaguing the states it’s not like she can just exchange it at the store she will have to get it fixed through Nintendo.
Look at it this way – at least you got a Wii.ÂÂ
